Load Cell (Gefran)
Gefran manufactures a diverse range of load cells (force transducers) designed to measure compression, tension, and bending forces in various industrial automation and control systems. These sensors are known for their robust construction, often from a single block of stainless steel, and high accuracy in demanding environments.
Types and Series
Gefran offers load cells in different configurations to suit specific applications:
- Compression Load Cells:
- CM Series: Strain gauge transducers for highly accurate static and dynamic load measurement in compression. They are built without welds to allow for smaller dimensions and enhanced protection, making them suitable for applications like weighing platforms and silos in chemical industries.
- CU Series: Small, compact load cells for measuring compression loads from 50 kg to 1 T. Their compact size allows installation in limited spaces and offers IP67 protection, making them ideal for aggressive chemical environments.
- LDK Series: Precise compression load cells specifically designed for heavy industrial applications such as press calibration, featuring high-grade steel construction.
- Tension/Compression Load Cells:
- TC Series: Designed for both tension and compression measurements, with a range from 100 kg to 20,000 kg. These are all-stainless steel and corrosion-resistant, ideal for general industrial applications requiring high accuracy.
- TH Series: Built for accurate measurement of both tensile and compressive forces, employing eight strain gauges for precision and robust construction from a single block of stainless steel.
- Tension Load Cells (Force Transducers):
- TR Series: Force transducers primarily used to measure the tension that plastic films, tapes, or fabrics exert on guide rollers in machinery (e.g., in the textile industry). They can be used on both fixed and rotating shafts.
- Specialized Load Cells:
- CC & CT Series: Cylindrical and toroidal force transducers for the plastics industry, designed to monitor the reaction force caused by extrusion pressure on the gearbox.
- SB Series: Low profile load cells for use in applications where space is limited and protection against lateral loads is required.
Common Specifications
Gefran load cells generally share the following characteristics:
- Technology: They utilize strain gauge technology linked in a Wheatstone bridge configuration to convert mechanical deformation into a manageable electrical signal (typically in mV/V).
- Material: Most models are machined from a single block of high-grade stainless steel or aluminum, ensuring durability, resistance to mechanical shock, vibration, and corrosion.
- Protection: Available with high IP ratings, ranging from IP65 to IP68, making them suitable for harsh industrial conditions involving dust, moisture, and chemicals.
- Integration: They are designed for easy integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, and Gefran's own indicators (like the Gefran 40 Series indicator), providing real-time data for control and monitoring.
- Calibration: Many models include an internally generated calibration signal, which simplifies setup and maintenance.
Applications
Gefran load cells are widely used in a variety of industries to improve safety, efficiency, and product quality:
- Weighing Systems: Silos, hoppers, and large weighing platforms.
- Plastics and Textiles: Fabric tension control in weaving/winding machines, and monitoring extrusion pressure.
- Packaging: Monitoring and controlling machine performance.
- Metal Processing: Various force measurement tasks.
- Industrial Automation: General force and weight measurement in machines.
