Lenze 8400
The Lenze 8400 series comprises a range of modular frequency inverters (VFDs) that were designed to provide scalable and efficient control for various industrial motor applications. This series addressed a spectrum of drive requirements, from basic constant motion tasks to highly dynamic positioning applications, through different product lines.
Product Lines and Applications
The 8400 series was divided into specific lines based on functionality:
- 8400 BaseLine: The entry-level model for basic applications requiring controlled motion and communication. It was ideal for conveyor drives, pumps, and fans.
- 8400 StateLine: Suitable for drive tasks with or without speed feedback and simple motion control, featuring integrated brake management and S-ramp functions for smooth acceleration/deceleration. Applications included transverse materials handling equipment and extruders.
- 8400 HighLine: Designed for complex speed control and positioning tasks, offering integrated positioning control with up to 15 selectable points and optional "Safe Torque Off (STO)" functionality for safety.
- 8400 TopLine: Offered servo qualities for applications demanding high dynamic performance and precision, such as handling and positioning systems, travelling drives, and hoist drives. It included feedback options for synchronous motors.
- 8400 protec/motec: Decentralized versions (IP65 protection class) for machine-side wall mounting, which shortened motor cable lengths and simplified machine structures.
