Lenze does not produce a single, distinct product named a "PLC Card" but integrates Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) functionality into its drive systems through various controller cards, function modules, and integrated PLCs within their inverters and dedicated controllers.

Lenze Products with PLC Functionality

Lenze offers several ways to incorporate PLC capabilities into their automation solutions:

  1. Integrated Drive PLCs: Certain inverter series, such as the now-superseded Lenze 9300 Servo PLC inverters, had integrated controllers that could be programmed using the standard IEC 61131-3 languages. This allowed the drive itself to manage complex motion control tasks, reducing the need for a separate central PLC.
  2. Function and Communication Modules: For other drive series like the Lenze 8200 and 8400 vectors, Lenze provided plug-in function and communication modules. These "cards" added I/O points (digital/analog s and outputs) or fieldbus connectivity (e.g., PROFIBUS, CANopen) to the base drive unit, effectively expanding its control capabilities or linking it to a larger control system.
  3. Dedicated Controllers and I/O Systems: Lenze currently offers dedicated controllers like the p300 and 3200 C series which are compact devices combining logic and visualization, suitable for various machine applications. These controllers use pluggable memory cards for data backup and are complemented by the modular I/O system 1000 for precise /output control.

Programming Software

Lenze uses L-force PLC Designer software, which is based on CoDeSys, for programming its controllers and integrated PLCs. This single software environment is used across various Lenze controller and drive products.

Common Part Examples (Superseded)

Specific "cards" or modules for legacy systems include:

  1. EPM-S Series I/O modules: These included digital output cards like the EPM-S202.1b and analog modules such as the EPM-S401.
  2. Communication Modules: Specific modules like the E82ZAFPC001 were used for PROFIBUS connectivity in the 8200 series.
